A major potential of PRF lies in aesthetic medicine where it is used in various rejuvenation procedures. It is the only method that does not involve any pharmaceutical preparations during application, using only the patient’s own blood, making it completely natural. Treatments using the patient’s own blood have advanced in recent years alongside the development of regenerative medicine. PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) is the most advanced method and, unlike the more well-known PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), has a significantly stronger effect. This is because the biomaterial is prepared using much gentler forces and without any additives, making the blood-derived product much more potent, effective, and entirely natural.
PRF can also be used in a thinner form (i-PRF+) that contains more blood cells and a "thicker" form (liquid A-PRF) that contains more fibrin, making it usable as a natural filler. The fibrin network releases growth factors over a longer period, stimulating collagen production and providing longer-lasting effects.
Of course, all the effects are not immediately visible, as with Botox or fillers, but they are natural, “long-term,” and, importantly, have no harmful effects or potential complications.
It is also possible to combine PRF and liquid A-PRF, a technique known as the Cleopatra technique (Nacopoluos C, Vesala AM. Lower facial regeneration with a combination of platelet-rich fibrin liquid matrices based on the low-speed centrifugation concept – Cleopatra technique. J Cosmet Dermatol. 2019; 00:1-5.), which Dr. Kovačević learned from the author herself at her clinic in Athens.
The biomaterial can be used with microneedling and as injections (mesotherapy), or in combination. For mesotherapy, we can also use the most advanced biorevitalization cocktails, depending on the client's preference. It is also applied in the treatment of alopecia (hair loss), scar treatments, etc.
