About us

We present to you the Dental Medicine Clinic of
Dr. Maja Kovačević, PhD, DMD.

And although there is only one name in its title, the entire clinic, with all its employees and collaborators, functions as an organism that would not be complete without any one of them.

We nurture good interpersonal relationships, making the work atmosphere more pleasant for every patient during their visit to the dentist.

We place great importance on accuracy and good organization, which is why the waiting time in our clinic is shorter.

In addition, we have strived to make this space as comfortable as possible for our patients, so they can feel as if they are in their own living room. 

In addition to our core activities, we also organize and professional development courses for dentists and dental students. In collaboration with experts from various specialties.

We are also a professional base for the Faculty of Dental Medicine.

Ivan Smokvina

Doctor of Dental Medicine

Doctor of Dental Medicine with several years of experience in prosthodontics, implant prosthodontics, endodontics, and restorative dentistry. He graduated in Dental Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka in 2018, after successfully defending his graduation thesis Oral Manifestations of Leukemia. During his studies, he was awarded a City of Rijeka scholarship for gifted students. He is committed to continuous professional and scientific development, with a particular focus on digital technologies (CAD/CAM, 3Shape) to provide patients with the highest standard of care.
 
He is passionate about spending time in nature – hiking and mountaineering (having completed both basic and advanced courses) provide mental balance and build the endurance he brings to his work in the dental practice every day. He has been actively playing tennis for more than ten years and, in recent years, has also discovered padel; he also enjoys recreational football and sport fishing. He combines travel with exploring different cultures, while his involvement in sports communities fosters team spirit, communication skills, and a fair-play approach.

She was born on November 12, 1984, in Rijeka. She completed her secondary medical education in Rijeka in 2003, specializing in physiotherapy.

 

In 2008, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in physiotherapy from the University of Rijeka. She completed her internship in 2010 at the institution "Thalassotherapia Opatija" and passed her professional licensing exam the same year

 

In 2018, she completed additional training as a dental assistant at the Ambitio Institute in Zagreb and has been actively working in a dental medicine practice ever since.

After completing high school, in 2020, I enrolled in the University Undergraduate Program in Dental Hygiene at the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Rijeka.  

 

After completing my studies, I started working as a dental hygienist at the dental clinic of Dr. Maja Kovačević in 2023. Today, as a member of her dental team, I help patients maintain a healthy and radiant smile!

After completing secondary dental technician school in Rijeka, I enrolled in the Dentistry program at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka, in 1996. I graduated in 2002.

 

I completed my volunteer internship at a private clinic from 2002 to 2003.

 

I continued working in private clinics, gaining experience and knowledge in all areas of dentistry, with a focus on conservative dentistry, endodontic therapy, and prosthetics.

 

I continuously advance my knowledge through professional conferences and congresses in various fields of dental medicine.

 

In 2014, I joined the dental clinic of Dr. Maja Kovačević, DDS, PhD.

 

In my free time, I enjoy painting, traveling, hiking, and skiing.
